Ou(big)-Yoroi
There are nine different style of Japanese body armor, classified by various periods in time:

1. Ancient Ita (board) Yoroi
2. Later Ita Yoroi
3. Ou(big) Yoroi
4. Haramaki (rolled)
5. Hara-ate (front cover)
6. Doumaru (wrapped)
7. Nimai-dou (two-pieces)
8. Ryo-hikiai (both sides covered)
9. Gomai-dou (five pieces)

Type 7-9 followed the appearance of guns. These types are mostly of thick iron and the pieces have deep tapers. Nimai-dou (7) is a combination of both front and back cover it is simply made. This style was influenced by Western body armor.
The author shot the Nimai-dou body with a Tanegashima and found that this armor could not stop a bullet.
